to those who seek out the beauty in the mundane, the structure in the chaos, the identifiable in the incomprehensible…

… this blog is for you. I have been traveling since I was three months old, and I have been creating things since shortly thereafter – and the older I get, the more comfortable I am with the way that juxtaposition defines me. For if home is where the heart is, my home exists at the nexus of my insatiable thirst for the novel (traveling) and my love of building things (creating). Hence, The Traveling Creative.

I used to travel without any kind of plan, like I did on my round-the-world trip in 2015 & 2016, when I arrived in Peru on a one-way flight with only a 55L backpack and a hostel reservation that, as it turns out, I’d booked for the wrong night. But as I started working and studying on others’ timetables, I realized that I had to plan a bit more in order to squeeze every drop of life that I could out of my travels. Enter copious color- and icon-coded Google Maps, dozens of email threads with ad-hoc city guides I’d forward around the interwebs, and countless travel hacks all locked inside my head.

This blog is an attempt to write all of these things down, in one place, where both friends and strangers can get recommendations on where they’re headed and inspiration for where to go next. And fear not, I have no plans of stopping anytime soon – indeed, the journey is just beginning.
